Want clarity to match your business goals to your personal ones?

Want to Know How Your Business Goals Fit Into Your Personal Goals?

Sometimes it is challenging to try to sort out the complexity of understanding your personal  life goals and how they inform your business goals, e.g. do you want to make lots and lots of money with lots of travel?  Or do you want a steady income stream that allows you time with family?   Or ?????

Also, sometimes trying to sort it out in your head can get confusing and frustrating!  With my clients, I have found that a guided interview with the following tool by clever, Songya Kesler, can be very helpful in sorting out these complex issues.  It is called, "The Life Canvas".

After completing this "Life Canvas", then one can use the various other "Lean Canvas" or "Business Canvas" to brainstorm variations of your start up or existing business and can check if they align with your "Life Canvas".

If you wish to find out more about developing this Life Canvas and/or the subsequent Lean or Business Canvases, please feel free to book a free iniital strategy consultation via the following link:  kenbusinessdoctor.youcanbook.me

Here are the following steps to completing the Life Canvas. (These are from Songya).

The Canvas is meant to printed, poster-size A0 or A1, and used as a visual tool to track and communicate your unique Life Strategy.

Start at the bottom-left and go counter-clockwise:

1. Gifts & Skills
2. Values

3. Vision
4. World Needs
5. Mission

6. Income Streams

7. What You Love
8. Ikigai = World Needs + Income + Loves + Gifts/Skills (the ven diagram overlap!)
9. Life Metrics

As you uncover and define more about yourself, write each finding on a post-it and stick it on the Canvas.
As people give you feedback, add a tally mark to the bottom of your post-it to keep track of how others perceive you. (see example)
Over time, your Life Canvas will shift and change as you deepen you self-knowledge. Give yourself the freedom and flexibility to adapt. Enjoy the journey!

The Life Canvas  asks some pretty big questions:

• Why do you exist?

• What are you good at?

• What is your vision for the world? Your vision for your life?

• What are the guiding principles by which you make decisions?

• What do you want?

• What makes you happy?

• How will you be remembered when you are gone?

• What is success? Failure?

• How will you know when you have succeeded?

Some "weighty" questions -- but with some guidance can actually be enjoyable to discover!

Life Metrics

How will you measure your life? What does "success" look like?

For example, my response at this point includes the following:

Success measured by my feelings of accomplishment, happiness and connection with others.

So there you have it - - or at least a start which you can refine over time.  I have found that sometimes it takes a bit of time for your "subsconscious" to inform your "conscious" on some of these desires and considerations.  Please don't rush it!

Be gentle on yourself and on this journey of self-discovery!  And get help to faciliates this if necessary or if helpful!

When you have completed enough of this Life Canvas, my clients have found themselves ready to develop the various Lean Canvases (for start-ups) and Business Canvases (for existing businesses, e.g. wishing to pivot into new markets or distribution channels).
